Technical Assistance Center (TAC) Engineer

Requirements

  • Experience providing telephone or on-site support for Windows computers and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience working with Microsoft products including: Windows XP and Vista, Server 2003 and 2008, and Active Directory
  • Experience working in internetworking environments including: configuration and management of switches, routers, wireless equipment and firewalls
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal and written skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience working with non-technical end-users

Desired Qualities Include

  • Experience working in a technical support environment
  • A broad understanding of local- and wide-area networking technologies
  • MCP certification preferred
  • Undergraduate degree in four-year college preferred
  • The ability to write detailed design and installation documents

Projects

  • Assist with deployments of Windows 2008 Server and Windows Vista and XP Workstations
  • Assist with design and deployment of file, print, messaging and other applications and solutions
  • Assist with deployment of local – and wide-area networks
  • Assist with deployment of VoIP networks
  • Provide support to Systems Engineers

Job Description

Based on experience, the TAC Engineer will be part of a team responsible for the design, planning, and execution of server deployments, server migrations, system upgrades, and research and development for our clients headquartered in the Chicagoland and Southern Wisconsin areas. Day to day duties will include acting as primary interface to our customers through phone and e-mail requests received in our Technical Assistance Center; monitoring and maintaining the performance of the systems and networks for our managed clients; and providing Level 1 and Level 2 technical support to our clients and first line response for system down emergencies.
