Our Story

Since 1999, Util-IT has provided Information Technology services and solutions that help our clients reduce their operating costs and increase revenue. We offer affordable IT services to small- and medium-sized businesses commensurate in quality and reliability with even the most demanding corporations, but at a price point small businesses can afford.

Util-IT was founded by a group of senior IT consultants and senior staff from Fortune 500 companies who saw a dramatic lack of effective IT support options for small and medium-sized businesses. Given our backgrounds, we were familiar with the importance of customer service, the need for high system performance, and the technology available for “lights-out” operation of complex global computer networks. This experience translates into effective and robust solutions scaled for any sized client, giving them a reliable infrastructure to build their business.

Stephen SwanFounder and President

Stephen has over eighteen years of executive, global management and technology experience. This background makes him a trusted adviser for our clients providing both technical solutions and strategic business consulting.

Prior to founding Util-IT, Stephen served as the Director of Information Technology for IMPAC Group, Inc., a global provider of high-end and specialty packaging with sixty locations throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.

Stephen was a Senior Technical Consultant for Whittman-Hart, specializing in the design, construction and management of international network infrastuctures for Fortune 500 clients, primarily in the financial and manufacturing markets. In addition, Stephen was the Director of Information Systems for Prime Residential, a Real Estate Investment Trust based in Chicago, Illinois with over fifty locations throughout the United States.

Stephen completed degrees in Philosophy and German Literature from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
